The Federation of Jewish Communities of the CIS reports that it reopened for the High Holidays and was filled to capacity.
The synagogue is the only one in the city to have survived the Soviet era, through during that time it was neglected and became utterly rundown. While superficial renovations were carried out following the collapse of the USSR, it soon became clear that the entire building needing a complete overhaul.Read full article
